What happens

at the time of the appointment

1

The first appointment is a check-up appointment to see if you would be a good candidate for this treatment. The dentist will take an intraoral scan, take some intra and extra oral pictures and a panoramic X-ray, so they can start planning your tooth straightening journey digitally.

2

Once the digital plan of your teeth movements comes back, we will see you for a discussion where the expected length and complexity of the treatment will be explained.

3

If you are happy with the plan and ready to start your treatment, we will ask you to pay at least a 30% deposit up front, so we can order your custom-made aligners.

4

Once the aligners come back - typically in 1-2 weeks - we will give you your first few sets of aligners and see you once every month for a follow up appointment until your treatment is complete.

Comparison

Clear Aligners / Traditional Braces
  Clear Aligners Traditional Braces
Appearance Nearly invisible and discreet More noticeable due to brackets and wires
Removability Removable for eating, drinking and cleaning Fixed to the teeth throughout treatment
Oral hygiene Easier to brush and floss normally Requires extra care when brushing and flossing
Eating No major food restrictions when aligners are removed Certain hard, sticky or chewy foods should be avoided
Comfort Smooth trays with no brackets or wires Brackets and wires may cause irritation or discomfort
Suitability Effective for many cases, but requires good patient compliance Can be particularly useful for complex tooth movements and does not rely on remembering to wear trays

FAQs

How many visits will I need?

There are no two cases the same. At the time of your discussion appointment the dentist will be able to give you a rough idea about your treatment.

Is it an invasive treatment?

No, Spark Aligners are not considered an invasive treatment. They are a form of clear aligner therapy—an effective, non-invasive way to straighten teeth. Unlike traditional braces that use brackets and wires, Spark Aligners are removable plastic trays that gently guide your teeth into their ideal position over time.

Does it hurt?

Our patients usually report a mild tension in and around their teeth when they fit new set of aligners. This sensation usually settles after 1 -3 days.

How long does it take to get my teeth straightened?

Depending on the individual every SPARK case is different, but typically we see people needing between 3-10 months.

Will I need to wear a retainer after the treatment?

Yes, most orthodontists recommend wearing either a removable or fixed retainer after your treatment—whether you had braces or clear aligners like Spark. Retainers are custom-made using a digital scan of your teeth and play an important role in keeping your smile in its new position, helping to prevent any unwanted shifting over time.
