Implant-supported dentures offer a stable and secure alternative to traditional removable dentures. Instead of resting on the gums, these dentures are anchored to dental implants, providing greater comfort, improved function, and a more natural feel.
Depending on your needs, we may use 2–4 implants for a removable overdenture that clicks into place, or more implants to support a fully fixed denture that stays in permanently. Both options help prevent bone loss in the jaw and give you the confidence to eat, speak, and smile without worry.
This treatment combines the affordability of dentures with the stability of implants—making it a popular choice for many patients seeking a long-term solution.
When you arrive to the surgery, our reception team will ask you to sign the necessary paperwork alongside with the oral surgeon(s).
Due to the nature of the procedure, we work in a sterile environment. It means, after you’ve got comfortable in the dentist chair and the surgical area has been numbed, you will be covered with a sterile surgical drape.
TV is on, and you are ready to go. Then the procedure will begin by ensuring you are comfortable—local anaesthesia is used.
Once you are fully numb, we place the dental implants in the best positions for denture support. The implants will be left unloaded for a few months then.
During the surgery, you might feel some pressure and vibration due to the drills and the taste of salty water, which is the irrigation we use to cool the instruments.
The appointment usually takes about 90 - 120 minutes, and you will be given detailed aftercare instructions to support healing.
A few months later—once the implant has fully integrated—we will fit your final, permanent denture.
| Implant-Secured Dentures | Implant-Supported Bridge | |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Removable – secured onto implants | Fixed – stays permanently in place |
| Feel & stability | Much more stable than traditional dentures, but still removable | Feels and functions more like natural teeth |
| Cleaning | Removed for cleaning, making hygiene relatively easy | Cleaned in the mouth; requires cleaning underneath the bridge |
| Number of implants | Can often be supported by fewer implants | Usually requires several implants for adequate support |
| Cost | Generally the more affordable implant-supported option | Generally more expensive due to the number of implants and fixed restoration |
For a lower jaw, we often use 2 to 4 implants; the upper jaw may require 4 to 6 due to different bone density. The exact number depends on your anatomy and whether the denture will be fixed or removable.
They can be either fixed (non-removable) or removable, depending on your preference and treatment plan. Both offer excellent stability and comfort.
Yes! They are custom-made to fit your mouth and closely resemble natural teeth in both appearance and function.
Absolutely. Because they’re anchored to implants, they don’t move or shift, and there’s less irritation to the gums. They also allow for better chewing and speaking.
Fixed dentures are brushed like natural teeth, while removable ones should be cleaned daily after removal. Regular check-ups and hygiene visits are still essential for long-term success.
