Composite Bonding

A Simple Way to Enhance Your Smile

Composite Bonding (or Composite Veneers) is a cosmetic dental treatment that improves how your teeth look. It is a tooth-coloured resin applied to the front of the teeth to fix things like chips, gaps, discoloration, or uneven surfaces.

The resin is durable, natural-looking, and matched to your tooth colour for a seamless finish. It’s a non-invasive procedure—no drilling or removing tooth enamel—just shaping and bonding the material directly onto your teeth.

However, composite bonding isn’t as strong or stain resistant as porcelain veneers. To make it last, keep up with dental check-ups and scale and polish appointments, avoid biting hard objects (like pens/pencils, ice or nuts), and limit staining foods and drinks (curry, soy sauce, goulash, wine, tea and coffee).

What happens

at the time of the appointment

1

When you visit us for composite bonding, we will start by taking a digital scan of your teeth and some smile and full-face photos. This helps your dentist begin designing your new smile.

2

Your scan is sent to our trusted lab, where skilled technicians work closely with your dentist to create a personalized digital smile design—making sure everything is just right for you.

3

At your second visit, you will get to “try on” your new smile using a temporary material. We will take some photos, talk through how it looks, and then gently remove the material.

4

You will receive the photos to share with loved ones and take your time deciding. When you are happy with the look, we will book your treatment.

5

On the day of the actual composite bonding, we start by selecting a shade that matches your natural teeth, then gently prepare the surface of the tooth to help the material bond. A tooth-coloured resin is applied, shaped, and sculpted to enhance the tooth’s appearance.

6

Once we are happy with the result, the resin is hardened with a special light and then polished for a smooth, natural finish.

FAQs

What is Digital Smile Design?

Digital Smile Design or Smile Try is a modern technique to help you decide on how you want your smile to look like.

How many visits will I need?

Composite bonding is usually done in one sitting (it is a relatively longer appointment though), unless there are some changes you would like to make to the plans, it should be two visits; one for the treatment and another for a check-up appointment for any touch-ups, small changes to be done.

Is it an invasive treatment?

No, composite bonding is minimally invasive since the composite material is only added to your natural teeth.

Does the treatment hurt?

No, composite bonding is a pain free treatment.

Will I need local anaesthetic at the time of the treatment?

In most cases, composite bonding can be done without the need for local anaesthesia, as the procedure is usually painless. However, if you're sensitive or simply prefer to be fully numb during treatment, we are happy to provide anaesthesia to keep you completely comfortable.

How long does composite bonding last?

Composite bonding is a great way to enhance your smile quickly and conservatively. With good care, bonding typically lasts between 3 to 5 years, sometimes longer. While it’s not as durable as porcelain, small chips or discolouration can occur over time—especially in areas that experience a lot of bite pressure. The good news is that bonding is easy to maintain, repair, or refresh when needed.

What is covered under guarantee?

Small chips and cracks, light discolouration within the first year.
