Dental Hygiene Treatments

Bespoke hygiene treatments for a cleaner, healthier smile.

Our dental hygiene treatment is designed to give your teeth a deep, thorough clean while keeping your comfort front and centre — especially if you are someone who feels a bit nervous about dental visits. We use an ultrasonic scaler, which uses gentle, high-frequency vibrations to remove plaque, tartar, and stains. It is much less invasive than traditional scraping methods and is particularly effective at reaching those tricky spots around the gums. Most patients find it quick, efficient, and far more comfortable than expected.

To finish, we use a Prophyflex air polishing device — a gentle spray of fine powder and water — to remove surface stains and polish the teeth. It helps brighten your smile and leaves your mouth feeling extra fresh and clean. The entire process is handled with care and at a pace that suits you. We are always happy to talk you through each step, check in with how you are feeling, and make adjustments to help you feel at ease.

Whether it’s been a while since your last clean or you are just keeping up with your regular visits, our goal is to help you feel relaxed, well cared for, and confident in your smile. At the end of your appointment, our hygienist will also offer practical, personalised advice to help you improve your oral hygiene at home, making sure your smile stays as healthy as possible between visits.

What happens

at the time of the appointment

1

When you arrive for your scale and polish appointment, our friendly reception team will confirm your details and ask you to sign a consent form for your treatment.

2

Once you are checked in, our hygienist will invite you into the surgery room. She will begin with a quick examination of your oral health and may ask a few questions about your daily habits that could impact your dental well-being.

3

Next, she will gently clean your teeth using an ultrasonic scaler, followed by an Air polisher to give your teeth a smooth, refreshed finish.

4

Regular oral hygiene treatments like this are one of the most effective ways to maintain a healthy smile.

FAQs

How long is the appointment?

Approximately 30-45 minutes long

Does the treatment hurt?

While some discomfort can appear during the treatment, our hygienist makes sure that everyone is looked after well within their comfort zone. If something is uncomfortable or hurts, you can just raise your hand mid-treatment and ask her to adjust to your needs.

Will I need local anaesthetic at the time of the treatment?

There are patients who require local anaesthetic for a dental clean, however, most patients are okay going without it. If you are unsure, you can always just ask for numbing gel to be used on your gums, which would help with the sensitivity during treatment, but won't leave you numb as long as the local anaesthetic would.

How often do I need a scale & polish done?

Depending on our hygienist’s recommendation, you might need to come back anywhere between 3-12 months. Don’t worry if you are advised to come back a bit more frequently, make sure you follow our hygienist’s recommendation, and if you can improve your oral health at home, you might need to come back less and less often.
